There is no requirement in Islam that a name must be Arabic. The core principle from the Sunnah is about meaning, not linguistic origin — a name should be free of shirk (associating partners with Allah), immoral connotations, or arrogance. This is why Muslim communities across the world — Persian, Turkish, South Asian, African, and Southeast Asian — have always used names in their own languages that carry good meanings, such as Parvez, Feroz, Iman, or Aminah in local pronunciation. What Islam asks parents to avoid is not ‘non-Arabic’ names, but names with bad, shirk-based, or disliked meanings, regardless of the language they come from.
