Our Scholars

Noor Nama is governed by a dedicated team of Muftis and Sheikhs representing various reputable Islamic schools of thought.

The Role of the Advisory Board

In Islam, naming a child is a matter of profound responsibility. To ensure that every name, ruling, and guideline on our platform is 100% compliant with the Shariah, we have established the Noor Nama Scholarly Advisory Board.

Our board consists of esteemed scholars from diverse Jamiats (seminaries). By having a multi-disciplinary team, we ensure that our database is free from sectarian bias and relies purely on consensus (Ijma) and established classical texts.

What They Review

Every single name entry, naming rule, and the logic behind the Noor Nama assessment engine undergoes strict scholarly review. They verify:

  • Linguistic Accuracy: Correct Arabic spelling, root derivation, and precise English translation.
  • Theological Permissibility: Ensuring no name violates the 7 categories of forbidden (Haram) names.
  • Absence of Astrology: Ensuring our Qadar-based assessments remain strictly within the bounds of Sunnatullah, completely rejecting horoscopes and future-telling.

Contacting the Board

If you have a specific fatwa request regarding a highly unusual name, or if you believe you have found a linguistic error in our database, our scholars welcome your feedback. Please use the error-reporting tool at the bottom of any name page to submit an inquiry directly to the board.
